Raymond Fernandez, M.D., practiced medicine for over 55 years with his main specialty being pediatric neurology. He published widely in neurologic therapeutics, focusing on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of the genetic disease Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) as well as the study of patients who have medical conditions with a genetic basis. He was the Principal Investigator of a Phase 3 clinical trial for a treatment of DMD using a genetic medicine that leads to a partially functional form of the critical muscle protein, dystrophin. He was also a Principal Investigator in a Pfizer Phase 3 clinical trial involving therapeutics to treat muscle wasting disease. In addition, he was a Principal Investigator of a Phase 4 clinical trial for the treatment of DMD.
